anyone know where this is?

i'm looking for the belt tensioner on my 2002 4.0 motor, any one direct me or have a picture of where it is?

Below the alternator

follow the belt off the alt. and down you will see it

would it be the sqaure hole or the bolt?

also am i tightening or loosening to give more slack in the belt?

square hole to move it with a ratchet
bolt holds it on

Pull it toward the driver side to take tension off the belt

do i tighten or loosen? cos i tried putting my 3/8 ratchet in the square and tightening but it didn't do anything and i had like a 2 ft cheater pipe too lol

I think it is 1/2" hole

so ratchet into square hole and turn towards the drivers side?

Yes that will take tension off the belt to remove the belt or what ever you are doing

i swapped my alternators and now i'm having trouble getting the belt over the alternator pulley

It took me and my dad to get the belt on when I did my alt.

I had to lay on the ground and pull while he put the belt on

Hard to reach through the top IMO

Try loosening the alternator bolts up some and then slip the belt on then retighten it. That belt is going to fight you for awhile. They can be a real PITD.

belts, with auto tensioners, ESP new ones, are a 2 person job for sure, one to pull the tensioner over, the other to put the belt on

alright i got the belt wayy loose enough, lol now how do i tighten it back down?!

let go of the belt tensionor and make sure the belt is on all the pulleys

i'm not touching anything and the belt is extremely loose now, idk what i did but is there a way to tighten it?

Did the tensioner go back to its original position? Anything else move while you were in there wrenchin?

no nothing else moved i'm not sure if it did or not to be honest i didn't see anything move

Try prying back on it the other way to see if you can get it to move at all.
