Ranger starts but will not stay on (95 4.0 motor, in an 83 Ranger)
A long list of things has been done over the last few weeks with this truck.
For starters, this is what we are dealing with.
What's been done so far.
I have replaced all brakes, rotors, drums.
What caused an issue, still not sure why?
Replace the brake light switch, as the rear brake lights did not work.
>> When I replaced the brake switch, the Gas pump would no longer prime. (Strange, right?)
I figured it was the fuel pump as the last few times I was able to start it last week, it would take a few hits to get it to stay cranked.
Next thing I did.
Purchased a new fuel pump (Delphi Electric Fuel Pump)
I checked on and wiggled the connector head for the ECU, and then I ran a jumper between 30 and 87 for the Relay, and I'll be damn, the pump started.
So, I put the Fuel Pump assembly back in the tank and tried to start.
I turned the ignition, and the pump primed like it was supposed to.
I then tried to crank it, and it turned over and over and over but would not start.
It tried multiple times but would not start.
What would be my next step in resolving this issue?
It is so great that the pump is working now, still not sure why it would not have worked before.
I mean, the only thing I did was wiggle the connector head of the ECU, and all of a sudden, the pump primed and started to work.
Thanks, All.

The fuel pump I purchased was not strong enough.
I replaced it with the original fuel pump, and the truck started on the second attempt.
I will take the other pump back for a refund and get a filter for the original pump as it is dirty and needs replacing.
Hopefully, no other issues will arise.

The fuel pump is turned on and off by the Computer(ECU), pin 80 on the 1995 EEC-V computer
Anytime you have a "crank but no start" you should do the 50/50 test
Spray fuel in to the intake, gasoline, starting fluid, carb cleaner...............ect
Try to start engine
If it starts up but dies then Spark is working/timed, but fuel or fuel injectors are not
If it doesn't start/fire then Spark is the problem
50/50 instant results, no guessing
Did you try starting with 30 to 87 jumper in place?
