Air Conditioning and heater question
Help!
My 2008 Ranger has A/C and when I use the Max A/C (inside recirculated air), I cannot get any warm air from the vents even when set to the warmest setting. When I use the "normal" A/C (outside air) I can get heated air from the vents, the problem is I don't like the smoggy outside air.
Is there a way to change the blend door setting to get hot air with inside recirculated air?
In my 2000 Mustang I can get hot air with the A/C in Max recirculated mode.

MAX AC: Panel vents with air conditioning, inside air, heater core water valve shut off!!
AC: Panel vents with air conditioning, fresh air.
Panel Only: Fresh air, no AC.
Panel & Floor: Fresh air with AC.
Floor Only: Fresh air, no AC.
Floor & Defrost: Fresh air with AC.
Defrost: Fresh air with AC
The only way to get warm air in MAX AC is to find the hot water shut off and disconnect it. Otherwise, you will never get hot air because there is no hot water. The hot air blend door is not effected by the MAX AC setting.
The only way to manually control the fresh air vs recirc is to find that control behind the dash and re-engineer it.

Assuming that the 08 is the same as prior years...
You should be able to enable the heater in all modes by pulling and plugging the vac line to the hot water valve on the heater hose under the hood. In the absence of vacuum it defaults to open. Should be easy to try and would be just as easy to reverse it if it doesn't work as expected.

Here's a close-up shot of the heater control (hot water) valve on my '98:
