Can the Half-sphere in the headlamp be removed?

I think it's primary purpose is to keep the VERY bright filament from blinding the drivers in front of you.
If you think about it, that tiny filament is producing all the light for the entire headlamp. It's incredibly bright. If you remove that hemisphere, then oncoming drivers will see the filament whether you're on high or low and it's going to be dazzling. I suspect you'd be pulled over for it eventually.
So, I think I'd recommend against it.
Some of us DID remove them on the fog lamps though. When I did that, I had people flashing me all the time to turn off my brights when they were already off.
I have different lights now.

Well, I should clarify.
First, we used 9005's in the lamps, and they aren't "silvered" on the end so they are very bright in the center.
The other thing was we took out the "ring" that surrounds the bulb.
It made the foglamp project a slightly narrower beam actually, which was brighter. But it was a bit much to look into directly. Low slung cars in particular had a problem with it, but trucks never flashed me for the most part.
