Door Lock Problems
I have a 99 Ranger xlt 4.0 and am having problems unlocking the drivers side door with my key and fob. Several years ago I put a keyless entry on my p/u and within the last 6 mo. or so the keyless entry quite working so I replaced the battery thinking that might be the problem but sad to say it wasn't. I can manually unlock the right side with the key with no problem but I can't get the key to open the drivers side. When I try to use the key fob all the drivers side will do is click and act like it's trying to come up but remain locked and the key will not open it. Would this mean I might have to replace the drivers side locking mechanism? Thanks for any input.

Yes, that's a good guess, most likely the electric actuator is bad, can't move, so it holds every thing else from moving
Its not the door latch, or you couldn't open the door at all, it the lock/unlock mechanism
Is it hard to pull up the **** or push it down?
Look at the parts involved here: https://www.lmctruck.com/1983-11-for...oor-components
1993 to 2011 used the same parts so easy to find replacements in wrecking yards

Roll the window up and remove door panel
Pull off/out your key cylinder, its just held on by a tab on back side of door
Picture of the inside of the door here: https://i.imgur.com/IQbWr.jpg
You can see the key cylinder and the black tab around it, and you will see its end on the outside back of the door, it just pulls out and that releases the cylinder
You need to pull out the rod end to pull it all the way out
And then you can check if its worn out, so key doesn't work well in it, or key works fine and its something else

Door lock actuator
I did the door lock actuator yesterday and it’s awkward to say the least. The A1 video is great.
But the actual fitting can use more video. I posted this to help see more of what you’re feeling back there. Wish Ford would have just used a Phillips screw or something.
edited can’t save MOV file 😭🤔😖 maybe this works? 😹https://storage.de.cloud.ovh.net/v1/...res=1599705070
