remanufactured flywheel OK?

Hello,

I hate to bother people with what is a pretty basic question, but I might as well get input.

I've successfully removed the transmission off my 89 Ranger (2.3 liter manual) in order to replace the flywheel whose teeth unfortunately have been ground by an old starter (and I'll install new clutch as long as I'm in there).

So here's my question. I see that I can buy a whole new flywheel from a retailer. (I don't know if it's kosher to mention retailers by name here.) Says they build them from cores of old ones. So is that OK? Anybody have experience with that? I just want to make sure flywheels you buy like that aren't junk.

I had originally figured I would get a new ring gear and take it to a shop to have it put on. (I won't try that myself.) And I guess I'd get the flywheel resurfaced while I'm at it. But if I can just buy a whole new flywheel that sounds like less trouble and about the same expenses overall.

Thanks,
David

Last one I bought was a reman . Had a new gear on it and has never given a problem.

a reman flywheel has to pass the same inspections and meet the same standards as a new flywheel. they are just as good as a new flywheel but usually cheaper
