Electrical Problem
Hi everyone...was hoping somebody could help me out. Last night was driving and i lost the sound from my radio, was still gettin power just no sound. If i put the truck in neutral, radio would work, in drive it wont. Then 2 minutes later my horn went off continously until i pulled the fuse. But when i turned my headlights out, my horn would stop, turned lights on and horn would sound. Then got home and my lights wouldn't turn off at all. My cruise control isn't working either. The today was driving and my window washer pump started squirting fluid for no reason, until i turned my headlights off then the pump would stop... Has anybody had this problem or can somebody shed some light on this??? I dont want my truck to go up in flames !! It's a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L

How weird I have the same problem today. Went to get into the truck, turned on my lights and the horn starts blasting and the washer squirter starts going. Turned off the lights and everything stopped, but the parking lights stay on and don't turn off. My cruise control hasn't worked for awhile, and my truck is a 2004 was well! Did you find out the problem yet!!! Funny thing is I pulled a couple of fuses this morning to see if that was my problem on my non op. cruise control ( I replaced them), and now I have this trouble tonight. I'll try taking off the pos. battery cable to see if that works... fingers crossed.

Anyone figure out the problem? Today I was 5 hours into a 6 hour drive and the sound to the radio cut out. When I put the truck in park, or neutral, the sound comes back on. I was driving through some extreme storms, and I am pretty sure something got wet. I checked all the fuses inside the truck and everything seems ok. Guess I'll see if I have the same problem in the morning. If so, I'll pull the battery cable.

Reading the posts above, it seems that at least one person had water in the Smart Junction Box under the passenger side kick panel. Others seemed to be wet weather related as well.
I would pull the cover and try drying it out. Be careful poking around in there since the SJB is powered from some high current fuses under the hood (disconnect battery). Then you need to find the source of the water leak. Could be a windshield seal or cowl leak or maybe a door seal leak.
