Want to Buy: WTB Performance Tuner for a 2001 4.0 SOHC
#2
dont be afraid to look for a superchips flashpaq 1815 or 1865, im running one and it helps out a good bit, cant decide if its any better than a x-cal cause i havent drivin it enough but its easier than waiting on tunes to get put on it and paying all the extra money.......plus you can pick them up for like 150-250 and just update them online

My buddy has this one, you'll definitly notice a difference, although having custom tunes would make it nicer.

I'd like to see someone do an in depth review of all the tuners for a Ranger. Someone that's owned or tried them all on his/her truck. Key points would be butt dyno, possibly real world HP/TQ numbers, transmission feel, MPG, etc..

How hard is a tuner to use? I'm assuming that it plugs into your diagnostic port.
One of the reasons I need a tuner is so I can disable the PATS.

From what I've learned there is no way to disable the PATS system, unless you wanna swap in an old carbed engine, older model steering column, etc.. A tuner alone won't disable PATS.

I'm two tuners down but no dyno numbers from the x-cal. The one problem would be for an x-cal for example every person that tunes them has there own different ways and they would all be different

The PATS isn't that big of a deal since I have the doner truck. I just thought maybe I could avoid switching the ignitions around or taking my truck to a stealership.
