Sub Box underneath fold down seats in my Four Door
I posted this in the A/V section, but this might also be a good place to bounce my idea and get some input, rather than all those techies in the other section.
I just got my 2003 Ford Ranger FX4, Four Door about two months ago. I am getting ready to overhaul it (4 inch Suspension Lift, 35"s, the whole shebang) and I want to put in two subs, either two 10'"s or two 8"s but I also want to be able to have the seating in the back of the cab. My dad suggested that I try to build sub boxes UNDERNEATH the fold down seats, but I measured it and its only about 7" high, and about 14" deep. I guess I could put the subs diagonally, and leave the seats up most of the time, except for when I need to haul around a couple of friends. Here are some pics to show you what I mean...
I am pretty handy with all the audio gear and with making boxes, so I should be alright in the labor aspect of it... And I have probably $600 to spend, so I think that should be plenty to get a couple decent $200 subs and a decent amp then build the enclosures
Has anyone seen this done and/or done it? If so.. Got pics?
I have been looking around on this site and on Car Domain and havent seen anyone do it, or maybe I am just blind.
Any response will be greatly appreciated!!

Your best bet for mounting under the seats is http://www.blaupunktusa.com/Blaupunk.../ODw1000HP.htm
Its super thin but the draw back is it rms's at 200 watts and its a little pricy.
Your best bet is probably take the cover/jack mount out between the seats and put a single 10 or 12 in a truck box

Awesome.. So you would suggest it I am guessing? I was thinking about going the Sony Xplod route too, what are those? --- I looked at your profile and read that they are 10"ers
Are there any draw backs besides the fact that they rub--because I can design my box(es) so they dont rub? Do you actually use the seats?
Sweet, now I am thinking about getting this sub box thang going.
PS. I wish I could afford $400 a piece subs.. maybe on my next truck, thanks for the suggestion tho

Thats a 10". Yea I would suggest it. I have one sub on a 400watt single chanel class "D" amp and it sounds very good for what I use it for. (cant stand rap so I dont bump it)
Yes I have had people sit on that seat with the sub there. Its just the right height that it touchs, but that is all the way down so with a person there its not putting any extra pressure on the sub.
