2.5 rebuild
Hey every one. I ran across a good deal on a 99 extended cab 4x4 ranger. Its a 5 speed and the body is in good condition with good tires. However the engine does have a slight rod knock and will need to be rebuilt. I have talked to a few machine shops in town and it looks like about $1300 for the rebuild. I would drop a fresh clutch in it while I have it apart.
My question is what else should I look into. I was thinking about .040 or .060 over pistons and maybe a small cam with a little trimming on the head. Not trying to brake the bank but while I have it apart I figured I might as well look into some budget upgrades.
Also considering swapping out the exhaust manifold to a 94 tube set up or trying to find a aftermarket header and finishing it up with a 2 1/2 inch catless exhaust since I don't have to worry about smog.
