Acceleration for 2.3L
#4
turbo.
tune?
in all reality those cost a good bit. just clean everything that is a sensor or moving part.
Heres a list ive compiled from threads like this:
Oil / filter change
fuel filter
air filter. dont need KN just solid brand
plugs & wires
serp. belt with new idler & tension-er pulley
(Unplugged A/C so clutch no longer kicks in and robs extra power)
Clean MAF Sensor
02 Sensors
Change Tranny Filter and Fuild!
Change Rearend Fuild
Dump a bottle of Seafoam in her
Coil Pack
Bump up tire pressure
Clean your throttle body and manifold
Open up the air box
remove A/C all together
purchase larger Throttle body
Headers
roller rockers
clean IAC sensor
you do this and itll make a world of difference, little in power but definitely a mile or two in MPG as well. Power mods on a 2.3 are almost nonexistent unless you go boosted/NOS fed.

To be honest, when I first bought my used '08 4.0L V6 Ranger XLT, I said I needed to test drive it to see if the acceleration was good enough. It was, and is even faster now with modifications. However, the 2.3L; would probably only accelerate faster by going Turbo, or the cheap method, completely remove the bed of the pickup, that 'ought to clear up some weight lol

Definitely not lol , maybe it'd feel faster because it was a bit up higher in the air but definitely not physically faster.

if the speedo is calibrated correctly the truck will go faster in each gear but it will take longer to get there. deep muddin is right, same rpm but larger diameter will travel farther = more speed
#19
I guess long term, it could be quicker with better gears though.
