Am I missing a gasket?

I have a 1997 Ranger 2.3 that I am changing the water pump on. Problem/question is this: Is there a gasket that goes between the pump and the lower water outlet? How do I make this seal? I did not see a gasket in the old one, just a bunch of crud. The parts stores dont show a gasket there either. Thanks in advance everyone!

Anyone? Do I just use gasket sealant or does something go in there? I need to get this back on the road. Thanks for your time!

My guess is that it uses RTV to seal everything up. The crud you see on there is probably the old RTV.

Go to the parts store and tell them you need RTV for your water pump and they will get you the right stuff.

RTV is kindof like caulking. ooze it on, let it set for 5-10 minutes and re assemble.
