wants to swap out 4cyl. to a V6
hello everyone.
Can anyone tell me what I would have to do to swap out a 4cyl. 2.0L carburated engine with a 5 spd manual transmission.
I would like to put either a 2.8L carb. or a 2.9L carb. if there is such one, cause my little 4banger ain't got enough power for where I live.
Thank you all for the advice.

my reply to my question
I think the 4.0L would be to big for this truck, plus I really don't want to put a lot of money into it to make it fuel injected.
Carburated is fine with me,maybe a 2.9L would work, they have enough power for what I will be using the truck for.
I anyone has any more advice, just let me know please.

Ok.
Do they make a 2.3L 4cyl. carburated?
Cause this ittle 2.0 ain't got no power for me.
I have another Ranger with a 2.3L 4cyl fi with 8 spark plugs, that seems to have a lot of power, but, that truck ain't been runnining in almost 2 years and I would like to get that one back one the road.

Ok.
So you are saying that all I need to do is swap intakes & exhaust manifolds?
The reason why I ask,is because, the 2.0 I have now is carburated, and the 2.3 I am looking at maybe EFI. I am just looking for a little more pwer for this plain jane truck.
Thank you for the advice. I can certainly use it,plus,if anyone else has some advice, please let me know.

if your gonna go through the trouble, put a 302/ auto in it....... have some fun! the swap is fairly simple, keep the motor stock and the rear will be ok for everyday driving.. i get close to 20 mpg when i keep my foot out of it!
