What is up everyone.

Getting ready to give some updates on my own truck here in the next week or so.

In the meantime, I'm finding out that I need to replace my exhaust manifold as I have a hole in it.

My options are either ordering a replacement manifold from a company like Dorman, or ordering a 93-97 "tube" style manifold from a junkyard and putting it on.

I figured if the 93-97 manifold fits, then wouldn't this one from Pacesetter meant for the 93-97 2.3 trucks?

I found this quote in it:

"All 2.0/2.3/2.5 heads will physically bolt in place of each other. They all have similar exhaust port shape and placement. All cams are interchangeable as long as they are used with the proper followers. Later model (1995 and newer) roller cam followers cannot be easily swapped onto an older head as the valve stem size was reduced in the newer heads and matching slot in the follower was reduced. Early 2.0 and 2.3 heads have the same small round intake ports spaced evenly apart. They differ from each other in their valve sizes though."

The other quote mentioned having to modify the downpipe to fit an O2 sensor bung, but I'm cool with that.

 

I put a 97 header on and had to weld the bung on the down pipe. Need longer bolts. See thread for all details:

Ended up finding a 97 tubular for 85$ at a local wrecking yard.

 

Word of advice. If I remember correctly the 2000 had m10 bolts that threaded into the exhaust flange. The 97 has m12. I used m10 when I put the new header on and put nuts on the flange side.

That way if I had to remove I didn't have to worry about bolts seizing in the header flange. I ended up having to cut the bolts on mine and couldn't get the bolt remnants out of the old flange. I used pb blaster, acetylene torch, candle wax, nothing worked. That's why I put the header style on mine.
