My wipers don't work, usually when it rains more than usual. They will come on for a swipe or two, unpredictably

The inside dome light stops working too.

Ideas?

 

My 96 will start the wipers with out me touching button . my dome light will stay on , i just stopped using it buy unplugging the light. Now ford did have a recall on wipers and dome light. That is all can say for sure , The rest is a part needs to be replaced under the dash for mine i have not done it . Just saying this is the direction you might look in to !
