Vonhanson's SAS Question

Vonhanson's SAS Question
i have extra time so i've been working on reading sas threads and planning and researching what i really need.
i'ma be running leaves in the front.
just not sure what i need to get an axle out of.
dana 44.
i'd like to get something as narrow as i can. i'm going to have a expo 8.8 in the rear with l/s (i have it now with 3.73's so i can just regear/new springs for the rear @ the time)
also not sure what to do for diffs in the front/rear.
overall i plan on 4.88's and either the l/s in the rear and a locker in the front, or rob a bank and do selectable locker in the front and rear.
what do you guys think for the diffs?
and what would be my best bet for axle's

I'd look for a HP d44 from a late 70s ford..I think 78 came with springs..its considered a highboy. It's what I'm runnin on mine..
Either way your lug pattern will be off from front to rear. You can get 5 on 5.5 or upgrade to 8 lug. But rear will have to stay 5 on 4.5
If you wanted to go an easier route. I know it's a small axle but a d30 is a cheap narrowed same lug pattern route but it's a weaker axle. You can beef em up some

does it matter if i make it 5x5.5 or leave it at 6x5.5 since there also make adaptors that size.
what kind of leaf springs would be a good lift for the ranger, i have the 302 swap from an explorer, and i'm looking for about 5-6 inches of lift over stock. the stock waggy springs, or would those be to old and soft?

Figured i'd keep this thread up instead of making more.
what year jeep wagoneer would i be looking for an axle out of?
any other random stuff on a d44 from them i should look out for?
i've been looking on craigs and ebay and haven't found much lately, hopefully once its spring more stuff will be getting parted out.

Well i found a waggy d44 for like 150, thats including front leaf springs and tie rod and brakes and stuff.
what kind of things should i go through on it and replace right away if i pick it up?
obviously it will be getting new gears/locker/brakes though.
i'm also not sure on setting up the steering and other axle angles. it will be driven on the street so it needs to be good enough for the highway.
i've basically been studying rstangboi's thread because its the setup that i want for my truck.
