Thinking about going lower, and bigger:)

Well, been thinking a little, and im thinking about taking the BL off my truck, and getting some 33's..

The reason I am thinking about doing this is because of the strain and whatnot that the 35's add on the front end.. I figure i will save quite a bit of money on ball joints, ujoints and what not without the added stress..

also, have more power, and better gas mileage..

This is the setup I am thinking about going with,

4" SL,
33X12.5R15KM2's
Coilover conversion
6" AAL's(to get rid of the blocks from the SL in the rear)
5.0 V8 Swap

what do you guys think?

yeah, i would do everything in stages.. First i would prob. do the tires and get rid of the BL, getting rid of the BL is free(except bolts), and i Should be able to sell the 35's for a pretty decent price.

Do you want to get some money back for the BL or just get rid of it ASAP? You could always just trade somebody a body lift for factory length bolts.

you are nuts. Just regear to 4.56's that should take a lot of strain off the motor. Keep the 35s and BL on, do the v8 swap and regear to 4.56s... that would be about the same amount of money as doin all this other jazz. lol dont spend all this extra money and headache taking everything off and going smaller. YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER

I agree with Chris. It would be a lot cheaper and easier to just regear then it would be to do everything else.

already have 4.56's chris. lol..
I guess with the 5.0, it would be alot better power and gas mileage wise, huh..

i forget how much power the 5.0's have..

i have had bodylift for a few years and superlift for a few months and 35s for a few years and have had no front end wear issues (knock on wood)) so i dont think it's a good reason. You won't make much money selling your superlift . It looks great keep it as it is!

well, the only thing that has happend since the 35's is the ball joints going bad.. IF you regear to 4.56, you should have enough power, but my engine is running like crap and hasnt been running 100% since i have had the 35's, so im not really sure what it can do..

and thanks to Mudslanger for this Internet slap to the face lol.. slapped some sence into me..

I have a clear head now, and i know whta i am going to do.. no more back and foreth, im set..

Keeping the ranger, dropping a 5.0 in it, coilover conversion, AAl's in the back. Obviously this is all going ot be over a perioud of time because of money, but it will keep me interested in the ranger.

im running 4.10's on my truck right now. talk about strain on the motor... Thats probably why mine blew a head gasket. But anyway, ok 4.56's throw a 5.0 in there and all your bad thoughts will go away. You will have more power and probably better gas mileage.

I figure this because of the added power of the 5.0, you wont have to press the gas pedal as hard to get the same results as the 4.0 having to maybe floor the pedal lol

Ill let you know how well my 5.0 swap goes with my 35s, BL and SL with coils. Then when i get my 4.56's, ill give you a full on opinion on the setup so you can maybe consider it later on down the road and save you the headache!

Im running 4.56s with a SAS, 35's and a 5.0, and I get 19 MPG on the highway, and 17 on the backroads, and about 15.5-16 in the city, so yeah, a 5.0 would do wonders for your mileage im sure.

Try and fix your 4.0 first. I know you've tried already but keep trying. You may figure it out eventually and then get some of that power back.
