I finally decided to crank my tbars yesterday just to get rid of a little of the front lean. I don't want to crank them too much on the account of faster wear on front end parts.

Today after driving my usual commute to and from school I went back and measured the length from the ground to the fender and it is shorter than it was last night when I cranked them due to settling. So I decided to crank them some a little more tonight. Now when I try to turn the bolt on the driver side, the socket slings right off of it like it has been rounded. I am using a 13mm 12-point socket. Can I simply buy another bolt to replace that one? Or am I SOL?

 

your not sol, if somehow you can manage to get vice grips on the bolt to get it out you can just replace it.. sorry i dont know the exact measurement that youll need for replacement bolt, but someone else should chime in..

 

Yeah I hope I don't have to use vise grips, but I might have too. I could try a 6-point 13mm socket with a breaker bar if I had one. I think the teeth on the 12-point I was using is worn out. Thanks for you input!

 

Yeah, definitely try a 6 point socket, because the same thing happened to me. But, the good news is, I replaced mine, and they are only 5 bucks a piece from your local ford dealership.. That is, unless you can get them at cost like I did, and spend 4.50. Good luck!!

 

Haha only 4.50, hell I may just go buy a set just in case lol. I am going to buddies tomorrow that has a high-lift in his garage with lots of tools a man prob wouldn't even use but once. If we can't get it to work. I guess Ford will get $10 of my money on Saturday lol. Thanks!

yeah always use a 6 point socket on them or the 12 will round em off. I usually heat them up with map gas and use an impact lol takes seconds.

No problem. Yeah heat always helps. They have locktite on them. Mine wouldn't even turn with a breaker bar

 

Yep, 12 point socket is probably your problem.
