What is this? Went out after being stuck in snow.
is that even called? I bought the truck with the lift on it so I dont even know what to look for.
I got stuck in snow last weekend and my steering totally went out, the steering column works fine and the power steering pump is also working. I looked at the steering rack and pinion and saw that those upper brackets have been broken and completely bent, which resulted in bent tie rods and for some reason 0 steering.
Now im not sure if i need to take the brackets off, bend them back, and weld them or get replacements? If replacements, i dont know what they are called.
The rack and pinion is also going to be replaced. What is that part that comes out on both sides with a boot and 2 bolts above the tie rods?
Whatever info you have helps, because i have none! Thanks

The lift kit you have is a Trailmaster lift kit that is no longer in production. Your only options are to fix the parts you have, or to buy a brand new Superlift, which is the only suspension lift kit still available for 98+ 4x4 Rangers. To be honest, I would probably just replace the Trailmaster with the Superlift kit, because the Trailmaster kit was a very low quality kit. Unfortunately, the Superlift kit is upwards of $1500, but there was a guy on the forum selling a used Superlift for around $1k.

Had never heard of the trail master kit so I went googling. Holy ****, what a turd. Spacers on the knuckles and those goofy *** tie rod drop bracket things.
OP, you might be able to cobble the brackets back together. It looks like you may have damaged the steering rack as well, but it's hard to tell in the pics.
I would seriously consider the super lift as a replacement for the trail master kit. Expensive, but I'm pretty pleased with mine.

Nobody liked the Trailmaster kit when it came out, but the Trailmaster was the first kit offered so that's what people ended up with. Luckily Superlift improved upon the Trailmaster kit and gave you longer spindles with relocated ears for the outer tie rod.
I had forgotten about the Trailmaster kit until I looked closer at the pictures. lol.
