93 Steering Dampener?

I am new to the site and new to Ford Rangers and was hoping someone could tell me what this part is and the purpose of it. It is a steering dampener, I think, but I can't find it on the WWW except for some Russian sites.
Part # is F07A-6F085-AC Under that is the Ford oval logo and under that is "SUSPA-INC.30.2
It is located just forward of the front coil spring on the driver's side. The bottom bolts to the frame and the top goes through a bracket that goes under the power steering pump.

Thanks for the info. I will crawl under the truck this weekend to see where the other end of the bracket attaches.
