Manual trans 2nd gear after bodylift?

2nd gear kept popping out after i installed my 3" PA on my 2008 so i flipped the plastic plate to read explorer front and it will stay in gear but still sounds like its hitting or vibrating on something. anyone else have any tips or is it pretty normal for 2nd gear to have issues? it just seems weird to me that 3rd and reverse are fine but 2nd isn't. BTW I'm sure this has probably been covered before but i couldn't find anything searching besides the explorer front tip. .

Did you install the shifter extension?

hard to say what its rubbing on. maybe take the consolette off with the shift boot and drive around to see if you can see where its hitting.

Can the boot be detached from the shifter? I tried to take the ball off the top so I could slide the boot off but it won't budge. I assume it's threaded on but maybe it's pressed or something?
