strange trans fluid leak in 2nd gear
strange trans fluid leak in 2nd gear
So i've been chasing a fluid leak for the last few weeks and i wasn't sure if it was the pan gasket or a bad filler tube, but today i was going through R N D 2 1 and I discovered that it leaks badly in 2nd gear. I can't really tell where exactly it's coming from, but it's leaking from somewhere on the passenger side. Is there a servo cover over there? It's a 5 speed auto trans. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Yeah the servo covers are on the right side id bet thats where its coming from i think i paid a couple bucks for the little seal when i replaced my servo not a bad swap i did it on my old auto before i sold it.
thanks man. Will fluid pour out when I take the covers off or will I be ok without draining the fluid? And I assume part of the exhaust needs to come out to make things a little more accessible, right?
yeah id undo it at the collectors and let it hang down a bit but support it with a jackstand and idk if it will or not mine had been drained and i had already pulled it from the truck for the 5 speed swap when i did it but with the amount of fluid sitting inside probably so. But if its got mileage on the fluid not a bad time to drain and do the filter the filter and gasket kit isn't to expensive.
