Icon11 2.3L 2006 lack of power, rough idle and stalling.

Hello everyone. New to the forum here but I really need some help. I have a 2006 ford ranger 2.3l with 130k miles on it. I been having issue with driving it. When I start the the truck there is a rough and high idle almost immediately. the rough idle will continue until eventually the engine stalls. When I drive the truck it will rough idle and sometime I will press on the gas pedal and it will not give me any power and then suddenly surge to normal. This will continue until eventually stalling out. When the truck stalls I can always start the truck back up again no problem. the truck has brand new spark plugs.

Sooo I started by changing out the fuel pump. The symptoms continued. I then changed out the idle control sensor and the TPS sensor. The symptoms continued. I then changed out the map sensor, mass air flow sensor .The symptoms continued. I then changed the PCV value and the throttle position sensor and... the symptoms continued. I finally changed out the CHT sensor (coolant temp sensor) and that seem to work for a few days until the symptoms came back....

So today I go to auto zone to read the codes and they were multiple faulty O2 sensor codes. I just ordered the upstream and the down stream O2 sensors however I've lost all hope and decided to make a post and see if anyone has had the same issues and have any advice or ideas to what may be the problem with my truck.

Please and thank youuuu

What are the actual codes ? P0xxx

There is no code that says "faulty O2 sensor"

No such code, lol

First...............STOP changing things, new parts don't work 25% of the time so if you change 4 parts 1 will most likely be bad out of the box

O2 sensor is the ONLY sensor that wears out, 12 year or 100k miles which ever comes first, but even a bad O2 wouldn't cause your symptoms

Buy a $15 Bluetooth OBD2 reader
And a $15 Vacuum gauge, and a $15 Volt/OHM meter
$45, cheaper than even 1 sensor usually
This will make you good at diagnosing engine issues, on ANY gasoline engine, with a little help from your friends

What you describe can be clogged exhaust, you can test for that with Vacuum gauge
Can also be a vacuum leak, also tested for with vacuum gauge
Either issue will also set O2 trouble codes

Pretty much any sensor/device can be tested with volt/ohm meter, info on what you should see is found on internet or ask here
If you can change batteries in a remote control then you can learn to use a volt/ohm meter

Take a look behind your power steering pump for a hole in your intake.

While your truck is post IMRC, I'm pretty sure Ford just removed the butterfies and actuating rod from IMRC intakes vs a brand new casting. Worth it to take a look. It would cause high idle and a lot of rough engine performance.
