It's very possible you have a leak in one of the vacume lines that operate the door/actuator.
The vacume lines are usually made of a plastic material and are very small in diameter. If one has even a pinhole leak, it will not operate properly. After years, they can and will become brittle.
New lines are available at any auto parts store...no need to go to Ford. Many of the lines run thru the firewall to the engine, so they may be hard to trace..
Also, when replacing a line, do not go smaller or larger than what was originally there. The vacume operated doors are very finicky and won't operate properly with larger/smaller lines.
Delt with a similar problem an our Ford based motorhome, and it took about 30 minutes to trace down a crack in a line, and $2.00 to fix.

Blend door is electric 1995-2011 Rangers
It was cable operated 1994 and earlier

The Vents, floor, panel and defrost, are vacuum operated, also the fresh air/cab air vent

Door Replacement how to here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/sohc-2...hocker-115890/
And here: https://www.therangerstation.com/Mag...blend-door.htm
A lot of work

You can cut open the Duct and move the door manually for now, to get heat or no heat,
