blower motor wont turn on

I have a 2.3l and the blower will not turn on with the interior switch. The resistor was melted together and blown. I went to the local pick your parts and cut one off and wired it up to the harness in my truck, still nothing. I have noticed multiple trucks with the same scenario. Would you say my best bet would be to hard wire the blower motor to a toggle switch? Any help would be appreciated it's getting cold out.

Pull the blower out and make sure it turns freely. You may find a mouse house in there.
Also the resistor pack you got may have the thermal fuse already blown. It's the small cylindrical component about 1/8" diameter and 5/16" long .

That's what happens when you build your house around/in central heating.
