I have a 2.3L and I'm only getting 17mpg, should I check my O2 sensors? I've just changed the oil, spark plugs have been replaced, new fuel filter a month ago. What should I do I'd love to have that 20+ mpg!

I drove about 30 miles and lost all but a 1/4 tank of fuel
Granted, I was driving down gravel roads in second gear @ 3.5-4k rpms for alot of that

lmao....that sucks!

yeah I have a CEL on and it has to do with vapor canister and possibly my purge valve. I'll see if it improves anything.

at what rpm's does it idle?

altho the worst mine ever got was around 20mpg.now since it's warmer out i'm getting close to 24 mpg 50/50 hwy/cty .
i did replace the iac and pcv valves, and i'm running new firestone a/t's

the purge valve / solenoid doesn't effect gas mileage as far as i could tell..

would think that bad 02 sensors would throw a code, no?

yes would throw a code, mine is still on lol, never got another one put in though...to lazy, fixin to gut my cat and things so it will probably stay on then but i dont care, jus take it to your local auto parts store, they will scan it for free (autozone or advanced auto parts) and check your air filter if u havent that can cause alot of problems, didnt see u mention that in your first post...plus whats your driving habits, i been gettin a lead foot and getting maybe 20 mpg and thats highway, but thats doggin the mess outta it lol
