Engine quit running 06 2.3L

I had this happen a couple times within the last 2-3 weeks on hot days 80+.
driving home tonight 80 degrees or so in traffic 2-5 mph and the engine dies.
I rolled off the side of the freeway... engine will not refire. Previously I opened the hood touched the plug wires looked around and in 5-10 mind all is good and i'm driving... not this time.... had to call AAA.

I tested the Schrader valove and had fuel.

any idea's?... crank sensor?.. coil?

TX!

Welcome to the forum

IF it just dies out right no "chugging" like you are running out of gas then power is being cut.
Coil Pack would have more than 1 coil in it so would be a long shot as the problem.

Crank sensor, maybe, but......never ran into an intermittent one, they tend to fail and thats that, no restart until replaced.
And they rarely fail at all
There is also a Cam sensor, and the computer is always comparing the two for sync/matched, so there would be a code if either was skipping a beat

What happens on the dash when it stalls, regular Idiot lights come on?

So is it running now?
