Add some injector cleaner to the gas tank, Seafoam works well, should do this once a year
Change at least 4 of the spark plugs on one side, all 8 would be best but at least 4 one one side
Dual spark plugs add more power, so they both fire at the same time to get that extra power
That's the up side, more power
Down side is you can never tell when one of the spark plugs in a cylinder quits working, lol
It's only when both spark plugs are not working that you feel a misfire
There is a simple test you can do once a year
You can run the engine on just 4 sparks, this 2.3l ran on only 4 spark plugs from 1974 thru 1988, so it will run fine, or should unless one of the spark plugs is bad(or its wire)
Each coil pack has a 3 wire connector
Each coil pack does one side of the engine, drivers side 4 spark plugs or passenger side 4 spark plugs
Unplug passenger side coil pack's 3 wire connector
Start engine
If its not smooth then you have a bad spark plug or two on the drivers side
Now do the same test on for passenger side
One heads up, in 1989-1992 there was a spark inhibitor on passenger side coil pack, so it didn't fire while cranking engine to start, just drivers side did
Should not be there for 1993/4 but..........................
So if engine does not start with drivers side coil pack unplugged then you may need to unplug drivers side AFTER engine is running, its fine to do just use a rubber glove or insulated pliers so you don't get shocked
