Engine swap

Engine swap
I currently have a 95 Ranger w 2.3L 5 speed manual. Im wanting more power so I’m contemplating swapping something else from a little bit newer Ranger. If anybody has any suggestions on how I could either get more power out of the 2.3 or any bolt and play engines from other rangers? Thanks in advance!

You have a 2.3l SOHC Lima engine in a 1995 Ranger, first used in 1974 Ford Pinto and last used in a 2001 Ford Ranger as a 2.5l(stroked 2.3l)
So its pretty old technology, i.e. 1970's design
People do Turbo Charge these engines, the Mustang II's used the same engines so popular to add turbos, look at Mustang forums
This article is for swapping in a 1980's Ford Factory 2.3l turbo engine: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ylinder-motor/
No, on swapping in a larger Ranger engine, being from a Ranger doesn't make it any easier
Need to swap engine AND transmission, and then computer with its engine wiring harness, also exhaust and several other parts like drive shaft and mounts
So way cheaper and easier to sell your 1995 2.3l Ranger and just buy a 4.0l V6 Ranger, largest engine used in Rangers
If you are going to all the trouble of changing engine size then you go to a V8, 1996-2001 Explorers used a 5.0l V8 that will fit in Ranger engine bay, but same work as above, engine/trans, computer and wiring, exhaust, ect....but you end up with a V8 Ranger, can't just go out and buy a Factory V8 Ranger
The 2001-2011 2.3l Ranger used the DOHC Duratec engines, nothing in common with 2.3l SOHC Lima you have, so same swap as above, engine/trans, computer and wiring
So the turbo upgrade is about it unless you go to the V8 swap, in my opinion
