2.9 problem starting when hot
2.9 problem starting when hot
i have a problem with this engine starting when its hot i thought i had an injector leaking that would flood the engine
i replaced all the injectors and still have the problem
i did not have this problem before so im not sure what it may be
after i replaced the injectors the idle is not stable it hunts from about 800 to 1200 rpm doesn't stall but varies rpm
this may not be related to the injectors but a different problem all together
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated

You should also include the year of the Ranger
Most common cause of 2.9l no start when warm/hot is the TFI spark module, they get temp sensitive, coil can as well but much less likely
After driving when you shut off the engine the fan stops circulating air in engine bay, with hood close the heat in engine bay collects at the top where TFI module is, so it can get "heat soaked" and won't start spark until it cools off a bit
Because of this "issue" In 1991 when the 3.0l was used in Rangers Ford moved the TFI module off the distributor and put it on the rad support, down low, and added a heat sink to it
TFI module is not expensive to replace but a bit of a pain since you need to re-time the spark
Other things it could be
Fuel Pressure regulator(FPR), its on the engine, it has a fuel hose connected(Return line) AND a vacuum hose, check the vacuum hose for gasoline, if FPR leaks it can flood the engine
Loss of fuel pressure, cycle key on and off 3 times then try to start
