Edited to add, I just realized this is my first post. Guess I have spent the last year lurking.

Yeah I tend to get around 200 miles in my ext. cab 3.0 4x4. But my gas gauge is really inacurate once it goes below 1/4 tank. it'll say I have a 1/4 and if I look at it again 10 seconds later it'll say I'm at empty. Maybe I need a new sending unit. But anyway I get 200 in the city, and that's with my lead foot.

93 seems to get better mileage..?....
Hey everyone.
201K on my 93 SC XLT, 3.0L, 5sp. MTC 4x4 w/ Cap & Pwr seats. (no other options- No AC, no side vent windows, no power, tilt/cruise, etc.) 235/75R-15's, 3.55 or 3.73 gearing (unsure) & 20 gal Tank.
I still get @ least 300-325 per tank in daily drive- 36 mi. 1-way (3 mi stops/lights, 33 mi Hwy. @ 60-75 MPH & some bumper to bumper.)
Trips from PA to VA gets 375 before I need to fill up.
Once pulled 425 on a tank, filled w 19.2 gals. (that was about 80 K ago though!)
My std. cab 93 Splash (3.0L 5sp. 4x4 elec TC) pulled 24 mpg mixed & 27 Hwy.I was always suprised by how much better my Ranger did compared to Toyotas/ Nissans & S10's friends had.
Just a fluke?

With 250K miles you're getting up there, if the engine was abused before you owned it, or not maintained, you could definitly have an engine coming to the end of it's life. Get a new set up plugs, new wires, fuel and air filters, and if you don't see at least 50 miles per tank better (assuming you have a 20g tank like me) then get a mechanic to do a through diagnostic on the truck.

lol i went from 27" tires to 31's with my 3.73.
i have been getting about 230 before my fuel light comes on, then when i fill up it only takes about $31 in gas. i think my guage/float is mess up or something.
but i know the 31's are messing up my mileage and im going to say its really about 325-375 per tank but idk.

My 4.0l 4x4 with manual hubs gets 17mpg most days. If I take a long trip and don't have the cover on the bed it improves to about 20. With the cover, I get about 21-22mpg. So, that means I get about 300 miles out of a tank (FYI, I fill up when the little light that says "Hey Stupid, fill me up or walk" comes on)

If you don't take the time to measure miles per gallon, you are actually pretty much wasting everyone's time. Not trying to be nasty here -- but that's the facts. You're not MEASURING anything because everybodies using a different ruler, lol.
Measure your MPG and then repost.

They aren't listening...
...and only one person has figured out that there are different tank sizes for different models/years.
MPG is the only way to go folks...
FWIW: 31x10.5, 3.73:1 corrected speedo average with a 5-speed was 21, best 27 (one time fluke) and I got 20mpg all the time while boosted.
