2001 Ford Ranger XLT 3.0 Regular Fuel location of ECM coolant sensor

Anybody tell me where the ECM coolant sensor is located on the 2001 3.0 with regular fuel?

Front of engine at the top by thermostat housing(follow upper radiator hose)

There are two that look similar, seen here: https://www.ranger-forums.com/attach...ant-sensor.jpg
One is for computer(ECM), its 5volts, ECT sensor
One is for dash temp gauge, its 12volt, temp sender
So they are not the same

Unfortunately, they have the same threads so either can go in either location, there is not a "correct" factory location, although the grey connector in the picture should be the ECT sensor
The one you want will have 2 wires, and one will be light green with red stripe wire

The sender, for the gauge, has red/white wire, and may only have the one wire

Would a faulty temperature sensor cause the engine fan to run excessively? I was going to start my own thread, but came across this one & thought I'd ask here first to avoid unneccesary redundancy

For the ECM sensor, which wire is the ground. I want to connect my efan ground to the ground on the ECM sensor so it turns on when it hits its desired temp.

Use, a multi tester, turn on key unplugged sensor test the plug for hot 5 V. The other side will be ground. I believe
