Name That Part v. Coolant System

It screws into the manifold above the water pump and houses the temperature sensor.

I've been leaking coolant from this piece and would like to purchase a new one, but it does not come with a new temp sensor. I'd rather not pull one from a junk yard that will just corrode out in another 20,000 miles.

Thanks!

Thermostat housing? It's been a few years now since I've had a 3.0L. Post up a pic and we can help out better!

lol I guess that would be a good start. Just loaded up the truck with tools, tape, and 5 gallons of water. I'm off to locate one and hopefully swap it today.

Here's a pic

and a pic of a wasp I captured and preserved in sulfuric acid.

Called around, some auto parts stores have it listed as a Temp sending unit housing or thermostat housing. Nobody has one. Thought I might be able to JB weld it until I can get an ordered one in, nipple broke off when I went to remove the hose.

FML

From searching this forum and others, it seems like a common point of failure for the 3.0 Vulcan.

Word of advice for those searching, if you water pump is wet but it's not coming from the weep hole, it's probably this little sucker. I'll get a better picture of it later, I'm on a hunt. It is stamped with the number 18175.

Seems like it is a dealer only part. Bummer. Once a ride gets here I am going to try and fnangle one from brass parts at the hardware store.
