2005 Ranger Edge engine wire harness

Still figuring out my purchase. Truck runs fine but I have a plug coming off the main harness and for the life can not figure out where it plugs. Is a 3.0, automatic.. Any ideas?

Could be for an option you don't have
There are only 4 basic wiring harness's in 2005 I think, manual trans and automatic are 2, then base model XL or XLT

Post the wire colors on that plug, that would help, they are too dirty to see the color and stripe color

Can't see where its at in engine bay but there is a 2 wire Hood Light that is often unplugged

I'll try to check wire colors tomorrow morning, hard for me to tell as well.
the plug is direct behind center of engine coming out of the engine harness. It looks too short and low for hood lamp but honestly didn't think of checking that. It's a Edge, automatic, 3.0L, cant think of any other options under the hood.

That could be just lack of imagination on your part, lol
There are some silly options, download your 2005 Ranger brochure here: https://www.therangerstation.com/art...ger-brochures/

It will have the options for your model that year, you can see what you don't have

Yes, I can look up sensors, devices or controls with wire colors
Location is odd for say fog lights or hood light
3.0l had 2 wire Knock sensor on some years but not on others

Thanks Ron
I tried looking at wire colors again. One is black the other looks brown and green to me but I am shade blind.

I do not have a hood lamp, I looked under the cover on the hood nothing there and it looks too short anyway.
It is coming out of that large harness.

Nothing came up

If it was an engine wire you would get a code if something was unplugged, or if for an oil or temp gauge then that gauge wouldn't work

Is there anything that doesn't work?

No codes, no warning lights, everything seems to be working.
Oh well, I guess one day I might see something, hahaha.
Thanks for your help, you seem to be the pro! Henry Ford reincarnated!
I probably will be asking a few other questions about this 3.0L.. I'll look forward to your advice and input!
