Best I could manage is 22 mpg. 60 to 65 on the highway and limited city though. All stock except for some sort of performance muffler when I bought the truck. I average 18 nearly all the time. I'm not pleased with it, but I'm not ticked. Love the truck and oh yea....Its a truck 18 mpg was what I planned when I bought it.
wow this thread is intense. i got a 91 xlt ranger with a 3.0 and a 5 spd. only 2wd but i think that helps i'm getting 24mpg with mine. figured it out over 2 months of fuel usage. but i dont touch premium fuel. just regular gas and once a month a can of seafoam in the tank.
Actually, I heard from an old mechanic buddy of mine.. that sometimes filling up on a tank of premium is good for the engine, burns a tad bit hotter adn much richer, helps get rid of some deposits here and there.. do that once in a blue moon and itll help keep yoru engine runnin nice and peppy.. I did it with my old 88' ranger, 2.3L 4 banger 5 speed manual, and it still purs to this day, no engine mods.. jsut a good ol fix-er-up when I bought it, and three years later it still runs fantastic at 250,000+ on the engine.
I say (personally) burn a tank of premium from time to time.. but dont bother wasting the money doing it all the time, maybe once every 10 fill ups if ya want, jsut stick with regular, unless of course you decide to get some new headers/true dual exhaust/ tuner and take advantage of a cold air intake and such.. then you can bump it to the premiums if yoru calibrated for it properly.

Dude interceptor944 I love your avatar, go Israel.... but anyway this is a freakin old post, I usually get a little better mpg on 89 octane fuel, but I always get 87. The cost seems to balance out no matter what octane gasoline you get 87 or 89 . but yea premium fuel is a waste of $$$ IMO
Since everyone else brought up this old thread i think i'll throw my 2 cents in.
Ive been keeping an excel log so i can see if my mileage increases or decreases with my driving habits or mods i put on.
Here is where i stand, and everyday i drive half highway, half city.
I just added synthetic oil to the engine, and i have Amsoil on the way for the tranny, and gears, so will see if that does anything to the numbers.

Just to add, you will get worse MPG with 93 vs 87 if your engine isn't made for it.
I dropped 2 mpg in my CRX a year or so ago just by trying 93 in a tank.
Its too bad that car didn't work out . . . it got 39-40mpg on the highway.
it may be proportional though . . . like only 5-6% loss.
maybe around 1 mpg less for us trucks?
