Icon5 3.0 swap ?'s

ok so i have a quick question for all you guys. I have a buddy who just go rear ended so it totaled the back of his 07 ranger. He said told me to take whatever I want from it before he lets the jy come get it. He has the 4.0L MFI SOHC motor in it and i was wondering if that would swap into my 99 ranger with the 3.0 in it? If so would that match up with my existing tranny?

BUMP!! I have nearly the exact same question! I have a flex fuel 3.0. Would the electrical connections be the same and would I have to get the 4.0 computer or will the original one work?

Only if his truck and yours have the same components in it. The computer is programmed for his truck only. Does your truck and his have 5-speed or automatic?

The 3.0 and 4.0 have different bolt pattens. You would have to get the 4.0 tranny which might require a different harness. It would be best if you could buy the whole vehicle so you can take what you need.

Ok, thanks for the responses! I'm not sure if the motor was from a manual or auto and getting a new tranny too...eh. I think I'll just stick with my trusty 3.0!

You could have a few wires switched around. I changed the plugs and wires in mine once and i had the 5 and 6 wires mixed up. It miss fired like a **** until I figured out what was the problem. I got it straightened out, and it was all better.
