Cycling the key on I have like I don’t know like 55 psi or something like that then while cranking it’s also at like 50 or something. But it bleeds down pretty quick I tried sending a video

OK tried checking the cam sensor. It is just about impossible to check without having the correct probe while your piercing tools. I’m going to probably have to try to find some. I stuck the pins in the pigtail I think they’re in correctly but have no clue then ran copper wire up to the top of the motor and wrapped around my multi meter pins. Crank the engine got 0.00. Is there a way to test One of those wires for 12 V positive with Key on

If the video did not come through how do I post a video

Just pull the plug out again and it was dry was not wet. I do not know how long I’m supposed to crank for the plug to be wet

Just pulled the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line off. No fuel came out and I smelled the vacuum line and there was no fuel smell at all.

1998 Ranger doesn't have a fuel pressure regulator(FPR) on the engine, its in the gas tank, 1997 and older Ranger did have FPR on the engine
Its a returnless system 1998-2011
It has a Damper at the end of fuel rail, with a vacuum hose, hose should be dry

Engine would still start if pressure is above 15-20psi

Unplug throttle position sensor(TPS) and then try to start engine
One time I read that a shorted TPS caused fuel injectors to stop working, its called "Clear Flooded Engine" mode
TPS has 3 wires
5volts
Signal return
Ground

center wire, signal return, should be .7-.9volts with throttle closed, under 1 volt
At Wide Open Throttle it will be 4.5-4.9volts
If Computer gets 4.5volts from center wire before engine is running it will turn OFF fuel injectors

If TPS or the 5v/signal return wires are shorted then no start

It means TPS is shorted out, replace it

Only read about this one other time so not at all common occurrence

Of course not. Guess I am also the needle in the haystack. If it can happen. It happens to me. If somethings should take a half an hour it ends up taking me six hours. I’m not surprised. I’m the person. Everything could go right and nothing go wrong for 1000 people and I will be the one that gets that one thing that it has never happened to anyone before.

Do I need to set or adjust the tps when installing a new one? If so is there instructions how to do it. Or do I just get a new one bolt it up and plug in the plug?

You should be able to just bolt it in and plug it in
Computer will take a few days to learn the new voltages, if you get a code after a week or so you may need to adjust lower throttle close voltage
After engine is fully warmed up, drive it on the highway and go to wide open throttle a few times so computer can see that new voltage mark

Wide-open throttle in a 3.0 Ford Ranger. That’s going to be awesome. It’s barely street legal right now because of the exhaust manifold leaks.
Thank you again for all your help.

Did you get the video that I sent for the fuel pressure? Could it still be a problem with bleeding down so fast

No video

But not an issue unless you start to feel a lack of power going uphill or at higher speeds, i.e. high fuel demand

Yes, the check valve or pressure regulator, both in the gas tank, can leak and will allow fuel pressure to drop to 0 after key is off, not uncommon
If you ever have the fuel pump quit you would change the whole assembly and that changes BOTH the check valve and regulator, they are not separate parts that can be changed, they are part of the assembly

OK cool. Thanks. Got it up and going and drove it. Starts right up. Thank you so much. I’m going to have to start a new post about fuel consumption. I put a half a tank a gas and drove maybe 4 miles at the most and I used a little over a quarter Tank of gas. You can literally watch the gas gauge go down. I will start a new post though. Thank you again for everything.
