Yes, it will work just fine, engine/bellhousing bolt patterns are the same
Your Flywheel will bolt onto 2007 crank to replace its flexplate
Manuals used to have a separator plate between engine and bell housing if you have that on the 2005 then that needs to go onto the 2007 as well as flywheel

ECM(PCM) doesn't care about 2WD or 4x4 not part of its control parameters
There is a separate 4x4 module added to 4x4s, on purpose.
PCM is engine and transmission specific across all Ranger models, 2WD or 4x4 was never part of its function
You can NOT swap PCMs on 1999 and up Rangers, they are vehicle specific, they use PATS(passive anti-theft system)
In 2004 and up Rangers the instrument cluster was changed to an HEC type which added to the complications of swapping PCMs
If you need to swap PCMs then tit needs to be reprogrammed for the vehicle it will be used in, a Ford Shop can do this, or check with local Speed Shops, they may know of a local Ford Computer programmer(tuner) that can delete PATS from your computer
You never mentioned swapping the computer just the engine, which is fine, the computer only cares about the size of the engine and since you were swapping same size engine no worries
Swapping computers is a whole other ball game

Not sure what to tell you, it was not optional from 1999 to 2011 on a Ranger with V6 engine it was standard equipment
OK, I stand corrected, and did not know this, read here: http://www.vintrack.com/2013%20Trans...on%20CHART.pdf
2005 Rangers did not have PATS, Securi-lock..................neither did 4cyl 2006 Ranger, no optional just not avaialble
So they skipped a year, learn something new every day
Wonder why?
This is good that you don't have to deal with it, but doesn't change much in that you can't swap PCMs unless its another 2005, because all the other years will have PATS
And doesn't change the fact that the PCM is not concerned with 2WD or 4x4 so if you have a PCM issue that ain't it
