in theory, it could work.

but the size of the motor to make it work our stock electrical wouldnt be able to push it lol

your right, in theory it does accomplish the same thing as a mechanical SC. the downfall is as you mentioned, there is no way to get that to spin fast enough with enough force to actually work, and that is just touching on the bare basics of it.

some of you need to relax and quit being ****** to some of the newcomers. how many great things for our engines came from this very thing ? someone trying something new and finding out it doubled their HP ?
also, how would you feel if someone tried this thing and (against all physics) it actually worked ? I bet the guy who spent 10x that much on his mech SC wouldnt be so happy....

and remember this:

"there are no stoopid questions, only stoopid people...."
er.. or something like that

Thats why we have this site, to share ideas, I hooked and old electric paint stripper heat gun, (2 speed for stripping with one cooling speed) on the cooling speed to my 80 Buick Century right to the snorkel with a few hoses and clamps. The car was in my garage and in park. The idle picked up and it ran smoother. So in theory it sounds correct, but the noise that might come from that 29,000 rpm motor spinning might not be worth it. Why wouldn't it be good to spin all the time? The need to get air into the cylinders is needed all the time. Even if its just 3 psi. it would be a plus.

There are, in fact, electric superchargers that work. However, they're more expensive than belt-driven ones, and draw so much juice that they can only be used in drag racing, where the engine is only running for short periods of time.

As for being nice, it's pretty much a given that you're going to get flamed on any car/truck forum is you ask about the $50 electric superchargers on ebay. It's pretty much common knowledge, and common sense, that all these $10-50 engine mods claiming HP gains are crap. Forgive those of us who find the humor in sarcastic responses to these things. LOL

Yeah , my best guess would be thats the only reason they work at full throttle is the noise would be drowned out by the engine and the amount of time its on may be shorten when you get off the throttle. I don't know what speed that paint stripper spun at but it was loud and advised wearing ear protection when it was being used.

The problem is that it won't achieve 3psi even at idle. at other conditions, especially WOT the supercharger will not also exponentially increase its own output as the engines requirements increase. At those higher RPMs the supercharger would actually be more of an obstruction in the air tract than an asset.

It's all BS.

Sixt9coug, well put.

Forgetting for a minute the electrical output needs, for any electric supercharger to be effective, its speed would have to be computer controlled based on engine load and RPM. Simply running steady power to it wouldn\'t work.

LOl, What? I must of missed the memo on that "stoopid new thing" that doubled the HP on "our" 3.0 engines...or any engine for that matter Sombrero!

hence why I called you stoopid instead of its correct spelling, I knew you would instantly understand

flaming someone for simply asking a question is ridiculous and makes you look petty, sort of like the bully who is himself too arrogant to admit his true IQ level...
I mean, think about it, do you actually know the person who posted the question in this thread ?
no ?
so maybe he is only 15-16 and new to working on his vehicle ? is he still stupid then or is that how you actually learn something, by asking a question ?

I hope you think about that the next time you ask a question and someone laughs at you for being ignorant.
