94 Ranger XLT 4x4 smoking
Just picked up a 94 Ranger 4x4 XLT.
It seems to drive ok, but it smokes when I'm on throttle usually.
Is this common on the 3.0L V6?
It doesn't seem to be lacking power, but I guess I don't have anything to compare it to.
The engine doesn't seem to be making any weird noises.
When I bought the truck it was low on oil so I dumped in 1 quart, but I will be changing the oil soon anyways since I don't know how long its been since its had an oil change.

No, not common on any gas engine, or the 3.0l
Keep track of the MPG, you should expect the high teens low 20's
Could have been running rich for awhile so you have some carbon build up in the cylinders.
Pull a spark plug or two and have a look at the tips.
In any case run some Seafoam in the gas tank, it will clean up the fuel system and maybe clean off a bit of carbon.
Leaking valve guide seals are usually noticed when, after idling, you get a puff of smoke when you give it gas.
But keep track of the oil level, it was low so it could be using oil
