93 3.0 starts like every other day

My ranger will crank but not start one morning then start right up the next, been going on about a month. Before this started i had cleaned maf sensor (w/maf spray) seafoamed through booster vacuum line and in tank and replaced fuel filter because truck began cranking up to 3 or 4 times before it would start. A day or two later the every other day thing began. When it does start it runs and starts fine all day. It does smell funny when its running. I have spark and fuel pressure and used starter fluid and got no start. I checked for codes with eec plug and test light ( my cel doesn't light up at all ) and only get 327 code (EGR) . I checked egr by suction and motor stumbles. I'M JUST A SIMPLE COUNTRY CABINET MAKER NOT A MECHANIC. I shure don't want to start throwing parts at it. Thanks in advance for any help.

If it doesn't start using Starting Fluid then you have no spark.

1993 3.0l still used a distributor and TFI spark system
My guess, since being warm doesn't matter, is you have a bad wire, frayed or loose in the TFI system.

TFI System wiring seen here: Ford EEC-IV/TFI-IV Electronic Engine Control Troubleshooting

There is also the EEC Relay, in the engine fuse box.
EEC relay closes when key is turned on
EEC relay powers up the EEC(computer) but also powers TFI(spark system) and fuel injectors.

If you can hear the fuel pump running for 2 seconds each time key is turned on, then EEC Relay is working.
