Just bought a 99 ranger with the 3.0l they guy I bought it from had let it sit for 3 years. I checked oil and it was good and checked coolent levels and trans fluid all was good except coolent was pretty dirty. I threw a battery in it, it started right up an stopped an put premium gas in the tank (it was almost empty) then drove it home (about 30 minutes) everything was running fine all gauges looked good. Noticed a little smoke under the hood. And radiator had a small leak. It never over heated. The next day I put seafoam in the tank and drove it. After about 2 miles it was running so bad and rough it died a couple times then wouldn't start. Changed the plugs in it every one of them were black a couple were a little damp. Then flushed the radiator and new thermostat. It ran fine for a few miles then ran rough again and would stall. And blows a **** load of white smoke. I open the radiator cap and I don't see no fluid but the reservoir is still full even after driving it. An it's real hard to start (gotta pump the pedal ). And going down the road I can put the pedal to the floor and it won't go over 2500 RPM once it gets to operating temp and won't go over 50mph then slowly starts falling in speed till it dies. There's no water in the oil. But just idling in my yard it's blowing massive amounts of white smoke. My heater also doesn't work rather. I gotta get it fixed I need it for work. I'm scared it will be a cracked head but it never over heated. I'm hoping it's just a bad gasket after sitting for 3 years it just rotted. I'm hoping.
