99 to 97 fuel pump swap

Been having some fuel pump issue on my 97 3.0. Was going to order anew pump but while at Pull-A-Part today I spotted a 99 non flex fuel 2 line pump so I pulled it out. It was an OEM FOMOCO pump. Not sure what engine it it had. The ? Is is the 99 pump compatible with my 97 3.0 in terms of pressure?

No, for the whole assembly, it has a fuel pressure regulator(FPR) in the assembly, rated for 60psi

Are you sure its a 2 fuel line assembly?
Not 1 fuel line and 1 EVAP hose
1999 FP assembly here: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...fp3-jpg.74684/
The FPR is the round device

Your 1997 has FPR on the engine return line, rated at 40psi
It might work but no return

The pump itself may be OK to use but not sure if it will fit your 1997 assembly

Engine size didn't matter, same fuel pump was used on 4cyl and V6 models, just the pressure required change in 1998 models from 35psi to 55psi
And in 1998 just a single fuel line was used to the engine, the FPR was moved to inside the fuel tank
