99 ranger 3.0 flex won't start, obd2 scanners won't link
Just got this 99 3.0 flex 4x4 auto from a kid. He said all it needed was a fuel pump, bed was off, but the kid really didn't seem to know much about what he was doing. I had the truck towed to my buddy's shop. We've tried a simple OBDII scanner, and a Snap on Diagnostic tool, and can't get a connection. We've checked all fuses, and tested all relays with a known good relay, no change. There is no check engine light on.
The vehicle cranks, no start. We've tried spraying Starting Fluid in the intake tube, nothing, acts like no spark. I've pulled the ECM, I didn't open it, but it appears very clean, no broken connections, etc. Swapped it with another 3.0 Flex ECM from a running Ranger, and no change.
The kid only had 1 key, which works the ignition, but not the door locks. Single remote fob, works the locks.
I've got this thing cheap enough I could scrap it and get my money back right now, or part it out, but it's a decent looking little truck, and I got it for my kid's first vehicle. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
