Alternator pully + Stereo = ?
Alternator pully + Stereo = ?
I was thinking about getting all pullies for my 3.0 but was worried about the alternator pully not spinning the alternator fast enough to make enough power to power my stereo equipment? Would I have to get a different alternator? All my friends say I can't have underdrive pullies and a system, but, I think they are wrong. Who's right?
And I'm wondering if the MAC CAI intakes for the 4.0 and 3.0 are interchangeable because the 4.0 is cheaper right now on underdog performance.
Thanks in advance.

well if you get the set of pullies it comes with an alternator pulley to spin it back to what it should be. On top of that if your worried about your system killing your ower then get an explorer alternator.
The alternator pulley from underdog returns the alternator to its normal operating speed.

Well, its nothing big, just a kenwood deck, 5x7 jbls, 6x9 kenwoods and a 12 inch infinity sub with a 500 watt Bazooka amp (never buy one). Woulda got 6x9s in the front but had these already. I'm thinking it would be alright, I'd like to get some of my mpg back after I put on my tires. Just don't want to sacrafice my stereo in order to do so.
so you only got 300rms if that out of that amp. **** you will be fine. if your worried about it do the BIG 3 and you will be fine. and that is with 0/1 gauge, pos. battery terminal to alternator pos., neg. terminal to chassis and engine block to chassis for ground.
Tyler, once you get past the three the reasons for buying become more about appearance (red and blue) than amperage or HP. If I was buying black I would just get the crank pulley and alt pulley, probably the water pump as well. I installed blue on mine so i have a little bling in me....I want them all.
Oh, alright. I know my truck isn't a show truck but I do like to clean it up and take it to a show every now and then. So maybe I'll just get the 3 now and get the 2 others later if I have some spare cash (yeah right) or I get the mod bug again. Thanks for the info guys!
Unlike a water pump, alternator, or crank pulley- the stock idler and tensioner pulley WILL wear out. You could wait until a replacement is needed. At which point the money would have to be spent regardless. You'd just be paying the difference for one you would have to buy anyways.
