ATF in the oil
ATF in the oil
My buddy's a wrench head and was tellin me about putting a liter of ATF in the oil about a 1000k before every other oil change can really do a nice job of cleaning ur motor. An1 in here ever do this?
I've heard the old mechanic's tale of ATF in the oil to quieten down valvetrain clatter or free a sticking lifter, but never as a cleaning agent.
Best way to clean your engine out and keep it clean, do regular oil and filter changes, use quality materials and you will have no issues.

^^yup....it's a cleaning agent. Hell I use it for cleaning tools! I don't do it much on my newer cars, but I'd run a quart of ATF in the engine oil for a day or so before I change the oil. It cleans out gunk. Back on my old engine in the ranger, I'd use a solution of Lucas Oil fuel treatment and ATF in the gas tank. I saw some good results from it cleaning my gunked out injectors after I ran the truck dry.
