Bleeding Pressure in Fuel Lines

I'm trying to change the fuel filter...and no, I've never changed it since I owned the truck (50,000 miles ago :( Anyways, I pulled the fuse and the relay for the fuel pump and started the truck up till the engine died. When I went to disconnect the fuel filter, the gas came pouring out of the lines (and I did remove the gas cap). Um, where else can I bleed the pressure so I don't get soaked in gasoline?

I think I figured it out. Disconnected the switch by the passenger footwell and pressed in the Shraeder valve until all the pressure was gone. I still got drenched with fuel.

I dont think you can do a whole lot, no matter what you will get gas on you. Its like changing the oil, your going to get kind of nasty

you dont need to bleed the pressure. just make sure your truck has been sitting for a few hours, overnight is the best before you do it

yea ive never had that problem, i just used that special too to pull the hoses off and i think there might have been a few drops that came out. everything else that came out was what was in the filter and i ended up tipping it out.
