Catalytic converter question

So somone stole my cats of my truck and I was curious if I only needed one or 2? I'm not concerned with the 2 pre cats just the 2 that were together in the middle. The shop said one should be ok but I want to make sure.3.0 no egr

Is it a muffler shop that told you? If so then I would just go with one. I do know there are good aftermarket cats that outperform factory ones.

I was just gonna put a magaflow cat on it. It's not a muffler shop but he does custom exhaust and such on top of everything else. I go to them when the job requires tools or somthing I can't do myself .

Stolen Cats, or Cat??

Hi, from Portland OR, where no car or truck is safe from Thieves!!
. Have 4.0 4by, and they took it for a week. Not to bad of shape when I got it back, but exhaust was cut at downtubes and then the 1 pipe to muffler.
What are my options?? 2 new downtubes, then a used? cat? see if I have photo

Welcome to the forum

Year is always important
1997?

If 1997 4.0l then you will have 3 O2 sensors, rear one may be gone as well as the Cat converter

An independent exhaust shop may weld new pipes to the down pipes and then put in a single Universal Cat with O2 sensor for less money than buying stock exhaust system

Chain exhaust shops just put in stock exhaust so not worth the money because you can do that as well with just a few tools

But check the deductible on your insurance, it will give you a price point
