Icon5 compressor running while heater is on

Hi I have a problem I searched the forums but didn't find anything. I have a 2000 3.0 ranger and the other day i noticed while i was running the truck to let it get warm that the a/c compressor kept kicking on constantly every few mins or so and i don't have the defroster on i have the heat on top and feet and on full blast at max heat what would cause the a/c compressor to keep kicking on?

The A/C compressor runs in every setting except for just the feet or just the face. Its Fords way of making sure that the A/C system stays properly lubricated.

Unplug your compressor clutch if ya don't like it. I am not gonna promise it will work again when you want it to though.

If desired, it is possible to add a dash switch to disable compressor operation. The purple wire from the back of the HVAC control panel tells the PCM when it should allow compressor operation. Interrupting that wire with an on/off switch would allow the compressor to be turned off in any position of the HVAC mode selector dial.
