Damaged Crankshaft

Ford V6 183 CID/3.0L
I don't know how this happens but after hear a sound in my tranny near the converter i decide to check for a loosen bolt .When i move the flywheel/drive plate for check the bolts, one by one, suddenly the converter moves to the front of the engine like 4mm,too much for an engine,so i decide to remove the crankcase to see if is possible to see what happens(i lift the engine) and yes was possible to see inside the engine that one of the bearing cap the one that keeps the cranshaft secure in position damaged the crankshaft so i decide to remove the engine from my pickup.
Now is clear that the crankshaft was the only part damaged.and need a replacement.
My question is how is possible that this happens? What did you think...An unbalance converter or flywheel/driveplate or what?
Right now i'm disasembly the entire engine to approach the opportunity and take the engine to the machine shop.
Did anybody of you are having this problem?

p.s;If you hear a sound or noise coming from this area,a sound in the starter or converter with the flywheel/driveplate,probably you are getting this problem too. check the starter and the flywheel for indentation marks and try to pull or push the flywheel/driveplate with a screwdriver. good luck.

your proabaly talking about a thrust bearing?
Like a _|_ on the end of the shaft near the back of the motor?

My 468 (454 boared) big block did this...
trashed the motor...

Was caused from a bad torque converter that "ballooned" and pressed the thrust bearign onteh crank against the bearing on the block... bearing lost.. and gnarled teh crank and block...

maybe you cought yours in time... and saved the block...

that happened on my s-10. I never got a definitative answer but it was a tranny malfunction. Mybe a flex plate with too much flex. IDK for sure. Everyone had a different opinion. I could grab the crank pulley and move the whole crankshaft front to back. The whole back hub on the crankshaft had gotten eaten away. It was like the crankshaft was being pushed into the back of the motor while it was running.

It is repairable. It cost about $100 for them to weld the material back in then machine in back down to specs. They will also sell you new bearings to match.

Yes man,i buy a remanufactured crankshaft and it includes all the bearings
I suspect that the tranny receive a damage cuz was the transmission that advertise me of the problem.I heard too much noise coming from the converter
Can you tell me if this converter has a number to identified? i think that i need to buy a new one.,a friend of mine said that my tranny is 4R44E and is available in model 1995 to 1997.

Yep, the converter is damaged.
I ask a profesional in mechanics and tell me that the tranny, unbalance converter and driveplate is a possible reason for this problem.
